Charles E. Jones, 51, was arrested in April 2012 with 25 others by the State Police as part of a sweep called Operation Watchdog. Afterwards, he was terminated as head of the town DPW.

Facing five years in prison for criminal charges of online distribution of child pornography, he was due in court for a status conference but hung himself the night before, the paper said, quoting Charles Jones’ lawyer, Clifford Weininger.

The lawyer told the newspaper that he knew his client as a hard-working single parent who put his daughter through college.
