Morristown film series to screen ‘Girl Rising,’ with Oscar-nominated director, May 8

From Academy Award-nominated Director Richard E. Robbins, the film traces the stories of nine girls born into challenging circumstances.

Cate Blanchett, Liam Neeson, Selena Gomez and Meryl Streep are among the narrators. The director will field audience questions in a session moderated by film critic Alison Bailes of WOR Radio.

Admission to the 7 pm screening at the Clearview Headquarters 10 Theaters is $24 for adults, $12 for students with ID.  Half the proceeds will go to the 10×10 Fund for Girls’ Education. Tickets can be purchased at the NY Film Critics website.

“By bringing Girl Rising to Morristown, we are showing our community a beautiful film that demonstrates the impact education can have on girls’ lives around the globe,” NY Film Critics Producer Mark Ehrenkranz said in a statement. “Together we can be part of a revolution that gets girls into school.”

NY Film Critics Series to Bring Groundbreaking New Film Girl Rising to Morristown

Morristown, NJ (April 16) – The NY Film Critics Series (www.nyfilmcritics.com) is bringing a global movement to educate girls and change the world home to Morristown with a screening of the anticipated film Girl Rising.

Girl Rising, which spotlights the stories of nine unforgettable girls born into unforgiving circumstances, will be screened at Morristown’s Clearview Headquarters 10 Theaters on Wednesday, May 8th.

Following the screening, film critic Alison Bailes (WOR radio, MORE magazine) will moderate a discussion and Q & A with director Richard E. Robbins.

Directed by Academy Award-nominee Richard E. Robbins and narrated by Cate Blanchett, Priyanka Chopra, Selena Gomez, Anne Hathaway, Salma Hayek, Alicia Keys, Chloë Moretz, Liam Neeson, Freida Pinto, Meryl Streep, and Kerry Washington, the movie is the centerpiece of 10×10 – a global campaign to educate and empower girls.

A portion of Girl Rising ticket sales go to support girls’ programs around the world through the 10×10 Fund for Girls’ Education. The Fund goes to 10×10’s high-impact network of non-profit partners and leaders in girls’ education: A New Day Cambodia, CARE, Girl Up/United Nations Foundation, Partners in Health, Plan International USA, Room to Read, UNICEF, and World Vision.
