On this one day in five locations across the state of New Jersey, at exactly the same time of day, thousands upon thousands of people will walk in solidarity in the 2013 New Jersey AIDS Walk.

The New Jersey AIDS Walk, Inc. is a 501 (c) 3 organization which collaborates with several New Jersey cities that are home to leading HIV/AIDS service organizations. These cities unite to produce state-wide awareness and fundraising walks. Janssen Pharmaceuticals and Walgreens Pharmacy serve as the statewide sponsor of this event. Walks in all five cities are open to the public and registration is free. Walks will take place in Asbury Park, Atlantic City, Morristown, Newark and Ridgewood. A unified step-off in all cities will be at 1 p.m.

Collaborating AIDS service providers organizing and hosting this year’s walk include: Buddies of New Jersey (Ridgewood), New Jersey AIDS Services (Morristown), North Jersey Community Research Initiative (Newark), South Jersey AIDS Alliance (Atlantic City), and the Center in Asbury Park (Asbury Park).

“The NJ AIDS Walk is a model of how collaboration among social service organizations can raise awareness and leverage support, accomplishing so much more than working independently”, said Laurie Litt-Robbins, CEO of New Jersey AIDS Services which organizes and hosts the walk’s Morristown location.
