The man never emerged from the vehicle and the girls were not harmed. Here is the statement from Police Capt. Steve Sarinelli:

On Feb. 20, 2013, at approximately 8:45 A.M. two 5th grade girls reported being followed by a vehicle this morning while walking to Alexander Hamilton School. They advised that they first noticed the vehicle on Harrison Street. The girls reported that as they slowed, the vehicle appeared to slow and when they ran down the street, the vehicle appeared to speed up. The girls reported that they utilized a cut through from a yard on Harrison Street and made it over to Mills Street. The girls then made it to school and reported this to the staff at approximately 0855 hours.

The vehicle was described as a dark blue small car. The girls reported that the vehicle was operated by a white male with a long beard, which curled at the bottom. As per the girls, the male made no contact with them, did not speak to them and did not ever attempt to get out of his vehicle. The officers checked the area, but no suspect vehicle was located.
