‘The Art of the Bicycle’ opens Thursday, Dec. 6, from 6 pm to 9 pm, at Marty’s Reliable Cycle in Morristown.  A benefit for Bike and Walk Morristown, Marty’s will be chock full of fantastic bicycle-related art and gifts that are all for sale.

With the holidays literally around the corner (Hanukah’s first candle is this Saturday night and Christmas 13 days later) stop in and knock off that gift list in no time at all! The number of participating artists and businesses is extensive so there is certainly something for everyone.

Wait!  Did I mention that this is a benefit for Bike and Walk Morristown?

art of the bicycle poster 2012Bike and Walk Morristown (BWM) will be launching its first-ever membership drive by offering Founding Member status to those that join through Dec. 31 only.  Perfect for that person who has everything (and let’s face it, we all have someone like that on our list), gifting a membership to Bike and Walk Morristown shows a commitment to BWM’s mission to make Morristown fun and safe for bicyclists and pedestrians alike.

In addition to supporting advocacy efforts, membership allows BWM to underwrite bike skills classes and annual community events such as the Bike-In Movie Night, Bike-o-Rama Week, and Music. Picnic. Art. on the Vail Mansion Lawn.  Plans for 2013 include more fun community bike rides and walks exploring Morristown, installation of more bike racks, and the opportunity to tackle the Morristown Pedestrian Project.

Be a Founding Member and get four additional months free.  That’s sixteen months of membership for the price of twelve!  Receive $10 off one Traffic Skills 101 registration and be eligible for free stuff from Glassworks, Marty’s Reliable Cycle, The Running Company, South Street Creamery and Café, Sweet Lucy’s Bakery, and TransOptions.

Be sure to pop into Marty’s tomorrow night, enjoy the art and music, and make a serious dent in your gift list.   Afterwards you can head over to Town Hall and learn about the Bicycle Master Plan that the Morristown Planning Board is discussing.

Busy tomorrow night?  Know that ‘The Art of the Bicycle’ runs through Sunday, Dec. 9.  You can also check out what our local officials are considering on the Town of Morristown website.

A 13-year resident of Morristown, Marcy can be found leading one of Bike and Walk Morristown’s weekly walks from the Vail Mansion on Tuesday mornings at 8, posting, commenting and sharing on Facebook about the many organizations she loves and supports, madly trying to use the abundance of produce she gets from the Community Supported Garden (CSG) at Genesis Farm and attempting to organize her home.  Some of those efforts are more successful than others!
