Mayo Center to host holiday food drive in Morristown

The Mayo Performing Arts Center is hosting a holiday food drive, from Nov. 15 through Christmas Eve, to benefit the Community Soup Kitchen and Outreach Center in Morristown.

“The Mayo Center is proud to work with Community Soup Kitchen to help provide necessary food and supplies to those individuals in need,” said Allison Larena, President and CEO, in a statement. “We encourage our patrons to help us in this effort to make the holiday season a joyous time for everyone.”

Items requested include:

hearty meals in a can (preferably flip top), boxes of cold healthy cereals, individually wrapped packets of nuts or snack mix, grape jelly, small cans of tuna, salad dressing, coffee/tea bags, hot chocolate mix, one-pound bags or boxes of rice, as well as socks, and men’s underwear.

The soup kitchen on South Street serves up to 300 people a day, and has not missed a day since 1984. Clients include the working poor, the disabled and the homeless.

The Mayo Center is at 100 South St. in Morristown.
