Marty Epstein is a pretty light-hearted guy, who leads lots of fun rides from Marty’s Reliable Cycle in Morristown.

But he gets pretty serious when talking about Rock N Ride 2012, an Oct. 14 event to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.

“I just think we have a moral responsibility to help people who were doing their job and need the help,” said Marty.

It’s the cause that’s deadly serious. The $25 entry fee will help the Wounded Warrior Project raise awareness and provide services for soldiers injured in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Marty, 63, vividly remembers the situation faced by troops returning from the Vietnam War.

“They came back and we dropped the ball on them,” he said.

“Fast-forward to now, and so many guys coming back from Iraq need more help than they’re getting. Irrespective of whether you believe the war was right or not, its the guys and gals coming back who are the issue. If you meet them, you’ll understand.”

You can register here for the ride; call (973) 584-7773.
