After more than 40 meetings over two years, Honeywell’s plans to redevelop its 147-acre headquarters at Columbia Road and Park Avenue in Morris Township are close to becoming reality.

Tonight, July 16, the township planning board is scheduled to vote on a land use ordinance to rezone the property for the mixed uses proposed by Honeywell.

Honeywell has scaled down the residential portion of the project from 300 units to 235 townhouses. Some property would be given to the town for recreational space. Three office buildings would be renovated while others would be demolished.

Citizens for a Better Morris Township, a group formed by residents, has raised concerns about traffic and other issues related to the redevelopment.

The Daily Record reports that talks are ongoing with Honeywell about converting a building into a community- or seniors center.
