All 20 children taken to Morristown Medical Center after a morning accident involving their school bus have been released–some reluctantly, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

“The ones who were discharged and waiting for their parents, our Child Life team was with them, with crayons, iPads and snacks. With all that, they didn’t really want to leave,” said Pam Garretson.

Pupils from the K-5 Normandy Park School were treated for minor injuries after their bus was rear-ended by a passenger vehicle around 9 a.m. on Columbia Turnpike, just west of Normandy Parkway. A spokeswoman for the Morris School District said 38 students were aboard the bus.

Police issued a careless driving summons to Rhonda Lenzen, 37, of Morristown, said township Police Chief Dennis Reilly.  The motorist was not injured in the low-speed collision, according to police. Columbia Turnpike was closed while authorities responded to the accident scene.
