Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty and Councilwoman Alison Deeb are inviting the public to them tonight, March 22, to add their names to a petition to save the downtown post office from closing.
They are scheduled to be in the lobby of town hall from 5 pm and 7 pm.
The Morris Street Station and the Convent Station Branch are being studied for closure as the Postal Service tries to stem huge losses in the era of electronic messaging.
Petitions will continue to be available for signing until March 23 at town hall, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, at the Mayor’s office on the fourth floor, and in the seniors center on the third floor.
