Here is the Valentine’s Day press conference called by Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty, in response to last week’s report rapping Jersey Central Power & Light for what state Board of Public Utilities President Bob Hanna termed an  “alarming litany of failures”  to maintain the town’s underground electrical system.

The Mayor was joined by JCP&L President Don Lynch.  The video starts just after some introductions and continues for the entire 26-minute Q & A session.

Morristown has been plagued for years by underground fires and manhole explosions. Last summer a woman was injured by one such blast.

The BPU hired an expert to scrutinize the system and he made 25 recommendations, which JCP&L has accepted. In this video, Don Lynch reiterates that the utility intends to implement all the recommendations this year.
