I went to see the live action comic book show, Intergalactic Nemesis, last month at the Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown. I thought that it was well rehearsed and well written. The voices were great because they fit the characters very well. It was also impressive that three people played the voices of 10 characters!

But the greatest part of the show was the sound effects. The sound effects were very well used and set the mood of the scene. Instead of using computer-generated sound effects, they had a Foley artist perform all the sound effects right on stage. The way the sounds were created by using household objects was very impressive. An example of this was when they used a popping balloon to make the sound of acid bubbles popping.

The story was about a newspaper reporter named Molly and her friend, Timmy. They soon discover an alien invasion at a party. Together with their new friend, a librarian from Flagstaff named Max, who saved their lives from an assassin, they try to stop the alien invasion. The aliens are called Zygons and the leader of the Zygonian army, Mr. Mysterio, is trying to destroy the Earth. But the full invasion is supposed to happen 150 years from now. Who will save the Earth then?

This show is based on a comic book of the same name, and the projector screen above the stage showed actual strips from the comic book!

If I were asked to go see Intergalactic Nemesis again, I would definitely say yes. But a question to ask yourself, is the Intergalactic Nemesis your friend?
