Video: You gotta hand it to these pianists, who shared a keyboard in Morristown

It stands to reason: If two heads are better than one, then four hands are better than two.

That was the basic equation put forth by husband-and-wife pianists Paul Kueter and Carolle-Ann Mochernuk last week at Music at Noon, a series at the Morristown United Methodist Church. The couple’s demonstration of piano four-hands was eye-opening and ear-opening, inspiring this off-beat video.

Paul and Carolle-Ann, who is a native of Canada, have been performing together since 1986 and both have taught at Rutgers. They have given concerts in the world’s great halls, and have recorded two CDs of four-handed piano music.

Their footwork is almost as intricate as their handiwork; they must remember to leave the pedals to whomever is playing the bass keys (they take turns on different songs).

This Thursday, Jan. 12, Music at Noon features the Harmonium Outreach Choir, led by Anne Matlack. The suggested donation is $6 for adults and $5 for seniors. Students with ID can attend for free. A light lunch also can be purchased ($7 for adults, $6 for seniors) before or after the 30-minute concert. Call 973-538-2132 for more details.
