Advent at The Presbyterian Church in Morristown

There are lots of opportunities for worship highlighted by choral and instrumental music led by new Director of Music, Dr. Chairity Wicks, during Advent at The Presbyterian Church in Morristown.
This Sunday, December 11 is the 3rd Sunday of Advent with worship at 9:15 and 11 a.m.  Rev. Dr. David Smazik preaches “A Voice of Clarity” with music by Cantate Omnes, the Chancel Choir and the Ringers-on-the-Green select high school bell choir.  The choral introit is an arrangement of “Veni Emmanuel” accompanied by organ.  At 9:15 a.m., Cantate Omnes sings an arrangement of the French traditional carol, “Let All Mortal Flesh keep Silence”, and at 11 a.m., the Chancel Choir sings two Advent classics, Paul Manz’s “E’en So Lord Jesus Quickly Come” and F. Melius Christiansen’s arrangement of the Finnish folk song, “Lost in the Night”.  Families gather to light the third candle in the Advent wreath.  Fourth Sunday of Advent, December 18 Rev. Dr. David Smazik preaches “A Voice of Confidence” with music provided by the Ringers-on-the-Green select high school bell choir, and the Cantate Omnes and Chancel vocal choirs.  At 9:15 a.m., Cantate Omnes is accompanied by violinist Eric Rappeport on violin for two Advent anthems. The Recorder Consort opens the 11 a.m. service with a special arrangement of “Veni Emmanuel” and plays festive songs for the season.
