Morristown weekend roundup: Art in the Atrium, Alfresco in the Garden, Sketches in the Zebu, and more

Here is a weekend’s worth of slide shows, starting with…  Art in the Atrium.

The Fall/Winter exhibition contains 200 works by 39 artists. There are plenty of dazzling images, starting with the nature photography of Dawn Benko. We knew she was good from her days at the Daily Record. But her stunning pictures displayed on the Atrium’s third floor belong in National Geographic.

Grow It Green Morristown held its second annual Alfresco in the Garden fundraiser at the Urban Farm at Lafayette. The program included music from a string band, pizza from a 1949 truck, and pecking from a hen named Barbie.

Before Tropical Storm Irene gave August a bad name, the Open Drawing Studio Project was cause to celebrate summer. For a month, anyone could wander into the annex at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and sketch with kindred souls in a serene, nurturing environment created by Danielle and Chris Merzatta. Drawings from those sessions are for sale at Zebu Forno, where artists and patrons thronged on Sunday to toast the project.

Okay, just a couple more odds’n’ends. Our sources tell us that Ilusha Tsinadze delivered the goods from Georgia–the Georgia near Turkey–at The Minstrel on Friday.  On Sunday, Bike O Rama Week kicked off with the Alley Cat, a sort of rolling treasure hunt. We’re pretty sure it ended well; some of the cyclists made it to the Grow It Green bash. (See above.)

Okay, this time we really mean it! Please click icon below for captions:
