As of 10 a.m. today, Aug. 28, most of Morris Plains still has electricity, said Mayor Frank Druetzler. But the Watnong Brook has flooded Route 53 near Warner-Lambert; at least one motorist was stranded there for a time, the Mayor said.

Some branches are down, too, and the Community Center is available as a shelter, though nobody has used it yet, the Mayor said. The fire department has been doing some pump-outs, he added.

Mayor Druetzler’s advice to resident:

“Just stay inside.”
