Eight choirboys lent their voices to the Thursday afternoon Holy Communion service this week as part of their training in choir camp at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Morristown. Young trebles have been learning vocal techniques, music theory and liturgy — plus enjoying arts and crafts and swimming at the nearby Kellogg Club — during the camp, which prepares them to begin singing in the church’s choir program this fall.
Openings are still available for a girls choir camp scheduled for next week at the church. The program runs from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday plus a potluck supper and choir performance on Thursday. It is led by Darryl Roland, new music director at St. Peter’s, and Anne Yardley, outgoing interim director. Girls entering second through eighth grade may participate. To sign up, contact Yardley at ayardley@drew.edu or 973-267-1152. Cost is $150. Choristers needing scholarship assistance can contact the Rev. Janet Broderick at jbroderick@stpetersmorristown.org.
Anyone interested in singing at St. Peter’s or assisting with the church’s music program can contact Roland at droland@stpetersmorristown.org. Young instrumentalists also are invited to participate in the church’s youth orchestra, which will play at 9 a.m. Sunday services beginning this fall.
