The show promises to draw hundreds of classic antique vehicles and custom muscle- and sports cars to Whippany on Aug. 7 to raise money for the families of pediatric cancer patients.

Younger fans are in for some special treats this year: The Batmobile (from the 1960s TV series), the Scooby Doo Van and the Dracula Car are among the specialty vehicles lined up. Actor Butch Patrick, best known for his role as Eddie Munster on the classic TV series The Munsters, also will be on hand to sign autographs.

Radio personalities from WDHA 105.5 FM are scheduled, too, along with live musical performances, a DJ and fun activities and games for kids.

The Two Kids Foundation is a nonprofit organization whose primary goal is to raise money to help children who have been diagnosed with cancer and other serious health disorders. The foundation was inspired by community support for the son of foundation executive director Woody DeTrolio, who was diagnosed with leukemia at age 17, and by the son’s fascination with classic cars.

Atlantic Health System’s Goryeb Children’s Hospital, part of the Morristown Medical Center, sponsors the show, along with Wigder Chevrolet and Warnock Automotive Group. Each year, the Valerie Fund Children’s Center at Goryeb Children’s Hospital, which treats children with cancer and blood-related diseases, helps the Two Kids Foundation find pediatric patients whose families are in need of assistance.

When a child is diagnosed with cancer, the most common types of treatment are surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, immunotherapy, and bone marrow or peripheral blood stem cell transplantation.

The cost of these treatments along with many other expenses that could be incurred can be a devastating financial strain to the family. With the help of volunteers, local businesses, and everyday donors, the Foundation is able to help families offset some of the expenses.

“We’re so happy with the enthusiasm that the event has been shown year after year, from the car owners to the spectators and families who come out to see the cars, and to all of the volunteers and sponsors who make the show happen,” DeTrolio said via email message.

‘Their support over the last decade has helped us create a legacy of kindness that will be remembered by so many families. We look forward to continuing this legacy for many years to come,” he said.
