Starbucks aiming for July 15 opening in Morristown

Coffee addicts soon will have another place to get their fix in Morristown. Starbucks is gunning for a July 15 opening, said contractor Rob Soojian of Soojian Bros. Construction.

Rob is overseeing placement of furniture, fixtures and other last-minute items inside the shop at the intersection of Park Avenue and Market Street.

He is impressed by the shop’s view of the Green.

“This is one of the nicer settings in New Jersey, like Nassau Street in Princeton,” Rob said.

Technically, this will mark a re-opening for Starbucks. The coffee shop closed in Morristown a few years ago to make way for the 40 Park luxury housing project that replaced the Epstein’s department store.

Rob said the interior design meets or exceeds LEED environmental guidelines. About 75 percent of construction materials are recycled, he said.

He also noted that paints and glues used for this project are low in volatile organic chemicals, and that specialized scrubbers have kept the site better ventilated than many interior construction sites.
