Morristown Fourth Ward Councilwoman Alison Deeb kicked off her re-election campaign Thursday evening with a garden party hosted by Morristown residents Alice Cutler and Robert Bensley.

Mother nature ordered up some lovely weather, allowing party goers to mix and mingle on the homes rear patio, overlooking Macculloch Hall Historical Museum, with blue skies above and  surrounded by the blooming trees and gardens.

It was a festive and well attended affair with neighbors, friends, and several local, county, and state elected officials in attendance to support Deeb’s bid for re-election.

Deeb is currently the only Republican on Morristown’s council. She said that she “has been honored to represent the residents of the fourth ward and hopes to be re-elected because there is much more I still wish to accomplish.”

She talked about how she tries to bring balance to public discussions as the council only Republican representative, allowing for more equal representation.

In her remarks, Deeb stated that she has established a record of consistently fighting for controlled spending and lower taxes, but also says that she wants to continue to “advocate for issues relating to town beautification, sustainability, and smart municipal growth.”

She said “sustainability also includes economic sustainability, so we must be smart and deliberate in how how we plan for our future, as we all want Morristown to be an enjoyable and affordable place to live, work, and raise families.”

Richard Babcock of Morristown is the coordinator for the Nordstrom for Freeholder campaign and vice-chair of the Morristown Municipal Republican Committee.
