On Tuesday we promised “The Magic Behind the Music,” and four great songwriters delivered the goods.

Grover Kemble, Blaire Reinhard, Bill Griese and Anthony Vitale shared their musical secrets with an attentive audience that also included some fine musicians.

Among the evening’s highlights (see video) were a pair of pop songs performed by our “old” friends,  Jordy Black and Olivia Platt, both 15.  The tunes were penned for them by Grover, a jazz master who had to adopt the mindset of a female freshman for this songwriting challenge.

Grover, Blaire and Bill also performed; more videos are coming.

Many thanks to each of these gifted musicians for giving so generously of their time and talent. They all were terrific.

Thanks, too, to everyone who came out on a Tuesday for MG Songwriters Night. You made the artists feel at home.

The evening would not have been possible without some other special people. Paul Miller of Sustainable Morristown improvised a perfect video screen, and helped in many other ways. Chef Melody McGinley Whitelaw of The Main Event cooked up a storm for us. The folks at the Morristown EcoCenter were gracious hosts. Sharon Sheridan, our MG Kids editor, provided her usual outstanding coverage. And Grover Kemble made everyone sound good with his marvelous audio gear.

No doubt, I am forgetting someone important, and for that I apologize.

The videos from this night always will make me smile. I hope you enjoy them, too.
