“I Wish You Love” Cabaret: Abendmusik at Morristown MUMC Sunday, Feb. 13

Abendmusik, the concert series sponsored by Music At Morristown United Methodist Church, will continue its 2010-2011th season with a concert on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at 3:00 pm.

The concert will be a cabaret entitled “I Wish You Love” and will feature Jim Fredericks, Tenor and Pianist and June Van Thoen, Soprano.  This will be their second appearance in a cabaret venue following their 2009 “Love in Bloom” Valentine’s Day cabaret.

There is a suggested donation of $15.00 for adults and $12.00 for senior citizens and students.  Advance tickets are available ($12 adults/$10 seniors & students) by telephoning the church office 973-538-2132.  Student groups with teachers are admitted free.

Jim Fredericks has extensive experience as a singer, teacher, actor and director.  He has appeared in over sixty musical theatre productions opposite such stars as Giorgio Tozzi, Jane Powell, Claire Bloom, JoAnne Worley, and Mimi Hines.  He sings regularly with several musical groups, including the Bard Summer Festival Ensemble and the Collegiate Chorale.  As a professional member of the Collegiate Chorale, Jim has had the great pleasure of singing for four seasons at the Verbier Festival in Verbier, Switzerland.  He has toured Israel with the Chorale under the direction of Zubin Mehta.  As a director this past July Jim directed Greensboro Opera’s revue “A Date with Oscar and Tony:  Songs From Award-Winning Films and Musicals.”  Jim teaches and coaches privately in New York City.  He also serves on the music faculty of the Horace Mann School, Masters School, and Adelphi University.  He entertains frequently as a singer/pianist for private and corporate events.  Jim is happy to be reunited with June for a second Valentine’s Cabaret, following their “Love In Bloom” revue in 2009.

June Laine Van Thoen is the Director of Music Ministries at the Morristown United Methodist Church where she conducts four vocal choirs, one handbell choir, and is the director of two Concert Series, Music At Noon and Abendmusik. She is a graduate of East Carolina University in Greenville, NC, with a Master of Music in Voice Performance.  She attended the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, CA, and toured as a soloist and chorister with the Norman Luboff Choir for two seasons.  She also worked in a professional summer stock theater while at ECU.  Some of the roles she has had the privilege of doing range from being painted blue and jumping out of an egg (Papagena in “Magic Flute”) to Eliza Doolittle in “My Fair Lady”.  Her first love is singing, and she is thrilled to be able to be back doing another cabaret with her good friend, Jim.
