JCP&L says power is restored to Morristown

Power has been restored to about 2,000 Morristown customers who lost electricity this morning because of the blizzard, said Stan Prater, a spokesman for Jersey Central Power & Light.

He said wind and trees had knocked out power lines serving residents in the vicinity of Elm Street and Ford Avenue, Molly Stark Drive on the border if Morris Township, and around Washington’s Headquarters.

Power was back as of 12:30 pm, he said.

Another 5,000 residents across Morris County remain without electricity, he said. Mostly, they are in Parsippany and Boonton.

Repair crews have their hands full in the bitter cold. Getting to the affected areas is still a challenge, too.

“It’s very difficult for access because of the snow. Secondary roads are pretty bad,” Stan said.
