Morristown Parking Authority opens its parking garages for free during snowstorm

In what has become a snowstorm tradition, the Morristown Parking Authority will open its parking garages for free throughout the snowstorm and its aftermath, so residents can get their cars off the streets to allow snow plows to do their job.

Parking will be free at the DeHart Street garage–and also at Morristown’s Vail Mansion Garage, the Ann Street Garage and the Cattano Avenue Dalton Garage, during the snowstorm. (Click here for map or see below.)

Motorists can leave their cars in the garages for free until about 9 am Tuesday, said Patrick Geary, operations manager for the Morristown Parking Authority.

“The whole idea is to give us and the town easy access to clean the streets… and motorists can keep their cars clean,” Pat said.

The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning through Monday at 1 pm. Twelve to 18 inches of snow are possible.

Jeff Hartke, Morristown’s municipal engineer, said the plows are ready. “We planned for this. Everything should be fine,” he said.
