Earlier this week, they paraded through Morristown High School. On Tuesday night, they marched into town hall.

The state champion Colonials are enjoying life since crushing Nutley 40-6 for the sectional crown at the New Meadowlands Stadium on Dec. 4.

Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty said his Nutley counterpart was so stunned that day, she did not want to be photographed with him.

At Tuesday’s council meeting, a pair of former high school football champs told the Colonials to savor these moments. Every December, they will remember, said town Administrator Michael Rogers, who played for a champion North Bergen team in his high school days.

Elnardo Webster II, the deputy town attorney, played linebacker for a championship St. Peter’s Prep school before heading to Rutgers and then, the NFL’s Pittsburgh Steelers. He told the youths to hit the books and stay out of trouble.

Coach Hull noted how Morristown kids have a certain toughness that serves them well on the gridiron. He is expecting big things from this team as it goes through life.
