The sixth time was the charm for Morristown High School.

Nutley came out on top in five previous football clashes since 1922. But the Colonials had the Raiders’ number on Saturday at the New Meadowlands Stadium. The final was 40-6, giving Morristown its first sectional championship since 1999.

Kevin Gaskins ran for more than 300 yards and three touchdowns, Shawn Bell snagged two interceptions, and the outcome was never in doubt.  Happily, the Colonials now must find room on their scoreboard at Memorial Field to add 2010 to a list of titles that includes 1948, 1974, 1993, 1997, 1998 and 1999.

If you couldn’t be there Saturday, here’s a recap of our coverage by Jason Lockhart, Jake Byk and Hal Crosthwaite. Video is on the way.
