Bill Jensen, author of ‘Hacking Work,’ to address Morristown networking group on Monday

Bill Jensen, who CNBC and Fast Company have called today’s foremost expert on work complexity, will be speaking on Monday, Oct. 25, at 9 am at the Great Hall at 70 Maple Avenue in Morristown.

Bill’s presentation is sponsored by the Morris County Career Network (MCCN) and is free and open to the public.   We especially invite any and all professionals in career transition to attend what will undoubtedly be an informative, entertaining and engaging presentation.

About The Morris County Career Network (MCCN)

The Morris County Career Networking (MCCN) group is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting professionals develop and polish their networking and job search skills.  The group meets the second and fourth Mondays of every month from 9:00 – 11:30 am in the Great Hall at 70 Maple Avenue in Morristown.

While St. Peter’s Episcopal Church hosts and sponsors the group, the programs of the MCCN are non-religious, non-sectarian, non-denominational and open to all.  After a short welcoming and review of logistics, the session is turned over to the speaker until about 10:30 am.  At that time, the facilitated networking session is conducted until no later than 11:30 am.

About the Professional Services Group (PSG) of Dover

Most (but not all) members of MCCN are also members of the Professional Services Group (PSG) of the Dover office of the NJ Department of Labor (DOL).  While it is not necessary to be a member of the Dover PSG  to attend any MCCN group meeting, the speakers and networking program that the MCCN offers supplements the program offered by the Dover PSG.

The Dover PSG offers a free seven-course curriculum on job search basics taught by professional volunteers open to all New Jersey workers and/or residents. You can learn more about the PSG and how to register for classes and membership requirements at www.doverpsg.com.

The MCCN provides a conducive setting for career management education and facilitated networking activities. Speakers and networking programs are meant to complement and build upon the basic courses offered by the Dover PSG.  Our programs target the more sophisticated job seeker who is interested in honing his or her job search and networking techniques, to gain an extra edge in the very difficult employment environment that has developed since the economic events of September 2008.

Directions

The Great Hall of St. Peter’s Church is at 70 Maple Ave., in a separate building behind the church.  The church is at the corner of South Street and Miller Road diagonally across from the Morristown Community Theatre, but the Great Hall is more easily accessible via the entrance off Maple Avenue.

  • From the South, take Route 287 North to Exit 35 (“Madison Avenue – Route 124”).   At the end of the exit ramp, make a LEFT at the light onto South Street and follow the road over the highway bridge towards downtown Morristown.   You will pass the traffic lights for Madison Avenue, James Street, Elm Street and right after you pass the St. Peter’s church edifice, make the left at the light onto Miller Road.  The very next intersection is Maple Avenue and make a left there.  The Great Hall faces Maple Avenue.
  • From the North, take Route 287 South to Exit 35 (‘Madison Avenue – Route 124”).  At the end of the exit ramp, bear right and keep right through the next traffic light onto South Street.   After passing Kings supermarket, you will pass through lights for James Street, Elm Street and after you pass St. Peter’s church, make the left onto Miller Road.  The very next intersection is Maple Avenue and make the left there.  The Great Hall faces Maple Avenue.

Parking for MCCN Events

There is curbside meter parking on Maple Avenue that costs a quarter for  30 minutes, with a two-hour limit, after which you will be required to move your car.  The Church of the Assumption, two blocks south of the Great Hall on Maple Avenue, offers free parking to MCCN members attending Monday morning MCCN events at its lower parking lot.  The lot is at the corner of Madison Street and Macculloch Avenue and is accessible from Macculloch Avenue.  It is a short walk to the Great Hall.
