Morristown High School fought back to edge West Morris Mendham, 27-24, for the Colonials’ first football victory of the season and the first win on their new $786,000 synthetic field.

Heavy rain wasted no time in testing the drainage of the new carpet, which earned high marks from players and cheerleader Brielle Corry, who called it a big improvement over the muddy grass of last season.

The clip above shows Akil Anderson’s interception in the waning seconds, which snuffed out Mendham’s last assault and sealed the victory for Morristown (1-1).
