It is about 11 year-old Akeelah Anderson, played by Keke Palmer, from South Los Angeles who has a natural aptitude for words. After winning a school spelling bee and meeting fellow competitors, her journey takes her to the prestigious Scripps National Spelling Bee with coaching from Laurence Fishburne as English professor Dr. Larabee. The movie is rated PG. There are no rain dates.
