Morristown Neighborhood House will join forces with ARAMARK, a global leader in professional services, to host the 8th Annual Community Family Day Festival.

This free event is aimed at strengthening ties between the different cultures in the community; it will offer healthy lifestyle and nutrition tips and education, live music, and other family-friendly activities. ARAMARK, lead sponsor of the event, will host the “ARAMARK Building Community Eat Smart Zone” that will offer nutritious foods, one-on-one diet makeovers, and healthy cooking demonstrations from the companies’ culinary experts.

Attendees include Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen, Senator Anthony Bucco, and Mayor Timothy P. Dougherty. Volunteers, chefs and nutritionists from ARAMARK, 2,000 Morristown community members expected. The Community Family Day helps unite the Morristown Community and provides a critical resource.

This program supports “United We Serve,” a national effort launched by President Obama to engage more Americans in serving their communities this summer, focusing on four key areas: education, health, energy and the environment, and community renewal.

ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:

Community members of all ages gathering to learn more about the different cultures through programming representing the Latino and African-American community.

ARAMARK volunteers sharing their unique culinary expertise and resources by providing healthy cooking demonstrations, one-on-one health and wellness consultations with ARAMARK dietitians, and free samples of healthy foods at the “ARAMARK Building Community Eat Smart Zone.”

Free book give-away for the entire family: slightly used books will be provided for children, youth and adults.
Make your own smoothie: children and youth will take turns riding a stationary bicycle to generate electricity to make fruit smoothies.

Children, youth and adults from the community will take center stage to showcase their talents including poetry, singing, rapping and dancing.

Boys Night Out is an R&B band made up of four eleven year old boys, all from Morristown NJ.  The young boy band placed second in the annual Morristown’s Got Talent showcase in February of this year. The boys just recently had an amazing opportunity to compete at the world famous Apollo Theatre’s Amateur Night in Harlem, NY where they came in 1st place! About Morristown Neighborhood House:

Morristown Neighborhood House was founded in 1898 as a settlement house that helped Italian immigrants in becoming acclimated to a new culture. Our core mission; helping new immigrants, helping families who are confronting economic challenges and fostering cross cultural acceptance; has remained the same.

We currently run programs in five cities and seven locations in Morris County.  Through programs in Morristown, Dover, Randolph, Denville and Frelinghuysen Middle School on an average day over 1,500 children and youth receive services from Neighborhood House.
