Listen to the sounds of Japanese music featuring instruments that many of us have never heard:

  • Shakuhachi,  a bamboo flute
  • Koto, a semi-cylindrical zither with 13 strings
  • Fue, a bamboo flute similar in form to the piccolo
  • Taiko, roughly translated means big drum

Founded by Marco Lienhard, The East Winds Ensemble is internationally acclaimed and has performed in such venues as Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden, Symphony Space and Lincoln Center, as well as sold-out houses in Russia and Europe. The group also has appeared at First Night Morris County.
