Jazz Standards from the American Songbook will be performed Friday in Morristown by Bob McHugh on piano, Ron Naspo on bass and David Humm on drums. Special guest Bill Robinson will handle the vocals.  The concert will be at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and will benefit the Morristown & Morris Township Library, which was damaged by an explosion in May.

Bob McHugh has played at jazz clubs, festivals, halls, private parties and restaurants in the New York area for over 40 years.  Ron Naspo is an accomplished performer and teacher of string bass from Montclair.  David Humm was born in England and began playing drums in jazz and dance bands in London.

Over the past few years, Bob, Ron and David have been performing at Shanghai Jazz in Madison and Verve in Somerville.  Known as the David Humm Trio, they have recorded CDs such as “You and the Night and the Music,” and most recently “Pure Imagination.”

Bill Robinson has spent most of his life as a singer in Summit, and is still going strong in his 80s, he says, thanks to jazz and his family.  He has performed  at the Hibiscus Restaurant in Morristown,  the Stony Hill Inn in Hackensack, the Summit Pub in Summit, Rod’s Steakhouse in Madison and Cent’ Anni in Maplewood.
