In November, she expects to open Sweet Lucy’s, a bakery offering gourmet cookies, tarts, cupcakes, and cookie dough- and Oreo cakes.

The shop will occupy about 2,000 square feet of the 5,000-square-foot former home of Fidelity Investments.

“Morristown’s a great town. I love the energy there. It reminds me a little bit of New York,” said Tracy, 27, who preferred Morristown to other towns she checked out. “It’s more urban, there’s a lot more going on. In think the town needs a great bakery.”

Of course, the Swiss Chalet and The Artist Baker might beg to differ.

Tracy, a native of Guilford, Conn., said she is shooting for a “trendy, gourmet approach” that will include high-end wedding- and birthday cakes, along with WiFi to draw the coffee-and-pastry crowd.

An underwriting stint for the Bank of America convinced the Bucknell University graduate that corporate life wasn’t for her.

So Tracy studied to become a pastry chef at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York. Most recently, she worked at a Summit bakery, Brownie Points.

An entrepreneur had planned to turn the vacant Morristown storefront into an environmental emporium, but financing proved elusive and the project was abandoned earlier this year.

So who is Sweet Lucy?

“It’s my dog,” Tracy said.

The yellow Labrador retriever, not yet a year old, lives with Tracy and her husband in Somerset County. Tracy said the pooch is not allowed to sample any baked goods.

Wouldn’t that make for a Sour Lucy?
