40 Posts Installed at Central Park Morris Dog Park in Morris Plains

4

Canis Maximus counted 40 fence posts this morning all set in concrete waiting for their feet to dry and harden.  Top Dog missed the opportunity to count how many were there the previous day, but there were definitely more there today.

It also appears that some of the posts are arranged to provide for the entry and exit holding pens.  We’re not expecting any additional work until next Tuesday, but from that point on we are hopeful that the progress will move like gangbusters.

Responding to Marie’s comment from yesterday…

Yeah, we’re all impatient.  However, it is no secret what the economy has been like for the past couple of years and in that light I’m happy that we are getting this project done at all.

Initially, the park will be just an open space fenced in to keep the dogs from wandering off, but the 5.8 acres should be enough freedom for even the most active dogs to expend their energy.  We are hoping that once the park is open we will be able to attract some additional donations for amenities.

We still anticipate opening the park this month, weather and construction supply availability willing.  If you pass the site and see work going on, give the workers an encouraging cheer.  Let’s get them on our side!

Which brings me to an upcoming event scheduled for June 27, 2010 – the Second Annual Dinner with Dogs!!!  Be sure to purchase your tickets in advance by calling 973-326-7615 or visiting the site www.parkalliance.net

  1. How sweet it is — a great-sounding REAL dog park coming. The dogs are so over-due and deserving of these dog parks. Every cause is so overly human saturated, the animals get almost no accolades anymore. So nice to see people raising a candle in their honor!!

  2. Great news! When we last visited the site (in early May) there was nothing but a “Coming Soon” sign at the park entrance and an empty area where we guessed the dog park would be. Now we can only hope that, once opened, poorly socialized dogs and their people go elsewhere. Zeus did NOT appreciate being bitten last time we visited the Lewis Morris dog park. Pretty sure we would ALL like to enjoy the new uber dog park, from the littlest pooches to the biggest bowsers!
