Eight months later, former Morristown Mayor Cresitello gets subdivision approval

The Morristown planning board voted 5-2 tonight to grant former Mayor Donald Cresitello a variance to subdivide his Mills Street property, according to Michael Galvin, a resident who attended the meeting..

Mayor Tim Dougherty and neighbors spoke against the variance–requested last September–contending that it could open the floodgates to requests that will change the character of the neighborhood.

A planning expert said technical concerns about storm water runoff  were addressed.

Donald Cresitello was mayor when he filed his variance request. After a number of meetings failed to produce a decision, he went to court seeking one. He also unsuccessfully sought to have the mayor and board chairman removed from the case.
