New Date: SATURDAY, SEPT. 17!

New Site: PIONEER PARK at HEADQUARTERS PLAZA, between the Green and HQ Plaza

film fest revised posterWe all made it through Hurricane Irene. And that’s worth celebrating!

MorristownGreen.com is delighted to pick up where we left off with our friends at Sustainable Morristown for what promises to be the highlight of the summer in Morristown:  Green off the Green.

This celebration at PIONEER PARK at HEADQUARTERS PLAZA is THE place to be for people eager to be part of a diverse and engaged audience that cares about arts, community and the environment.  Throughout the day on Saturday, Sept. 17, local entrepreneurs will showcase the latest green technologies.  Top musical acts will perform in an afternoon program to please all ages.  We expect a large crowd from Greater Morristown to be joined by visitors to the Gran Fondo NJ, a new bicycling event that should draw thousands to town.

When the stars come out, it’s time for the main event: The Fourth Annual MorristownGreen.com Film (& Music!) Festival is an explosion of cinematic creativity by budding Spielbergs from all walks of life.  And we save the best for last–when viewers vote for Best Picture, and trophies and prizes are awarded for their favorite videos.

This year’s theme, Sustainability, is sure to yield many creative and surprising moments!

Who we are

Sustainable Morristown is a coalition of like-minded institutions, organizations, businesses and individuals working together to ensure the economic, environmental and social well-being of Morristown, for current residents and visitors and for future generations.  Morristown Mayor Timothy Dougherty’s Office of Sustainability provides leadership and support that has positioned Morristown at the forefront of the movement to achieve a strong local economy, critical environmental protection and the quality-of-life needs of the entire community.

MorristownGreen.com is the trusted source for local news and entertainment. Operated by a hometown journalist and dedicated volunteers, MG proudly promotes ideals of sustainability in association with Sustainable Morristown, the grassroots organization that has worked to make Morristown a leader in the quest for a strong local economy, a clean environment and a superior quality of life for all residents.

In addition to hosting three successful film festivals, and a popular music fest atop the municipal parking garage, MorristownGreen.com has partnered with Sustainable Morristown on three Earth Day celebrations and a recent series at the Morristown EcoCenter that featured kids’ art, poetry and improv, and how-to sessions in songwriting, cartooning and videography.

What ‘Green off the Green’ Offers You

You can be part of something special that everyone will be talking about long after summer tans have faded.  Morristown is becoming something of a regional center for the arts and for film fests in particular, and this is one of the most fun — and it’s  free, open to all, and happening right smack in the center of our historic town.
