What makes the Best Picture the best picture?

Oscar, Academy Award trophyMorristown’s leading movie expert, Mark Ehrenkranz of the New York Film Critics series, takes his show on the road tonight, Feb. 14, 2017, to Montclair State University, to parse the 2016 Oscar nominations.

The free event, at 7:30 in Leshowitz Hall, features a panel discussion moderated by longtime Star-Ledger film critic Stephen Whitty and fellow critics Alison Bailes, Stephanie Zacharek and Eric Kohn.

It’s a joint presentation with The Film Institute at Montclair State. Admission is free, but registration is required. 

The 89th Academy Awards ceremony will be broadcast on ABC on Feb. 26, 2017. Comedian Jimmy Kimmel will host.

  1. Who puts on the greatest awards show? We have the Academy awards, Emmy, Tony, Golden Globes, Grammy, Screen Actors Guild, Critics Choice, Peoples Choice, Sundance Film, Tribeca Film, Palm Springs Film, Billboard, MTV, Teen Choice, Reality TV, etc…….so many awards shows. I want to see an awards show that rewards the best awards show!
