Video: NJTV interviews Morristown ladies about their knitting protest against Donald Trump

NJTV paid a visit this week to Morristown knitters Louise Karger and Paula Barber, who have joined the international Pussyhat Project.

The project name refers to the infamous 2005 Access Hollywood tape that caught then-TV personality /real estate tycoon Donald Trump boasting about how his celebrity status let him do anything with women, including grabbing their private parts. (He used a feline term.)

Knitters are sending pink pussycat beanies to Washington, DC, for distribution to women in Saturday’s march protesting the inauguration of President Donald Trump.

“And the women who are sending them are writing little notes. They’re writing ‘Thank you for marching’ or ‘One women’s issue that I really care about is reproductive rights,’”  Karger, a retired medical doctor, told NJTV.

Barber, a volunteer at Morristown’s Community Soup Kitchen, told the station: “I just felt I had to do something. And I’m really not a political person. But I felt this was too major to just say, ‘I’m going to take my ball and go home. The play is too rough. I’m not playing.’”
