Now is the time for all good men – and very surely women – to come to the aid of their party.

Whether you are a Democrat or Republican, a Libertarian or a Green, or your party is “Independent,” you cannot vote for its candidates if you are not registered.

And tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, is the deadline for voter registration in New Jersey.

It is also the deadline for those who already are registered to make any changes in their personal information, like addresses and legal names – to make sure you can vote. Failure to amend your records may mean your right name is not listed in the voter records at the right polling site.

“American democracy, for all its flaws, is the envy of people all over the world.” –Patrick Smith, pollster

And vote you should – no matter what your feelings about the candidates and the tenor of what has been a bruising Presidential campaign.

It’s not only a right, political pundits say, but a privilege.

“American democracy, for all its flaws, is the envy of people all over the world,” said Patrick Smith, managing director of Rubenstein, the prestigious New York public relations firm. Smith, a long-time journalist, is founder of the Quinnipiac Poll  and an advisor for 24 years.

“Countless thousands have sacrificed to protect the democracy,” he said. “Countless millions have endured hardships to take care of that democracy.

“It’s a small effort for us to read about the candidates, to reflect on them, to choose one and vote.”
