On Wednesday morning, Hurricane Matthew was bearing down on the Bahamas, and Florida’s Atlantic Coast was bracing for a hit by the Category 3 storm.

But our part of the world should escape any harm from Matthew, which is not anticipated to venture this far north, according to Jeff Paul of the Morris County Office of Emergency Management:

The latest trends provided by our weather team suggest that Hurricane Matthew will not have any significant impact on Morris County at this time. Overall confidence still remains very low on specifics due to continued model disagreement.

The latest model guidance has taken a significant trend southward with the track. Based off the recent trends, there is only a very slight chance for wind gusts over 30 mph and heavy rain in excess of an inch.

Based on the current forecast data, we are not planning on issuing any further updates unless conditions change.
