In the wake of more police shootings of black men across the country, Black Lives Matter Morristown will hold a vigil at 8 pm on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, at the Cauldwell Playground.

Organizer T’Anna Kimbrough, who led a march through town over the summer, said the peaceful vigil, at Clyde Potts Drive and Flagler Street, will include “an open discussion about the reality of racism and injustice in America today.”

All are welcome.

Here’s the full text of her invitation:

We must be the change. Let us come together as a community to mourn the tragic deaths of Terrence Crutcher, Terrence Sterling, Keith Lamont Scott and Tyre King.

We will stand in solidarity as we invite anyone to lead us in prayer, and have an open discussion about the reality of racism and injustice in America today. Everyone is welcome. Please spread the word. Location: Caldwell Playground (on the corner of Clyde Potts and Flagler Street) in Morristown, NJ.

A few days ago, police stopped Crutcher when his car had stalled on the road and proceeded to shoot him to death even though he was unarmed and his hands were in the air.

Last week, Tyre King was killed and shot multiple times by a Columbus police officer who was responding to a report of armed robbery. Police believed the toy BB gun he used resembled a genuine firearm that was used to rob a Columbus resident of $10. King was only 13.

Terrence Sterling was driving home from a bachelor party on Sept. 11 when an officer disobeyed orders not to pursue the young man. The officer turned OFF his body cameras before murdering Sterling who was simply driving home.

UPDATE: We are sad to add another name to the list of innocent black lives taken by poilce in the past few days. Keith Lamont Scott was killed by police last night as officers appeared at the apartment complex to serve ANOTHER person with a warrant and shot him to death.
