The fourth annual New Jersey Uke Festival got off to a rousing start on Friday, with a little help from Jim Boggia and Victor & Penny.

(And let’s not forget the warmup act: The Morristown Uke Jam Lonely Hearts Club Band.)

Among the highlights were Boggia’s Boss tribute (with nods to Judy Garland and Jake Shimabukuro) and V&P’s ode to days off. More video clips coming soon. See our Facebook page in the meantime for additional video moments.

And if you’re looking for a tuneful way to spend your day off, the festival continues today, Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016, with workshops for players of all levels from 9 am to 5 pm, followed by a 7:30 pm concert featuring the famed James Hill, Manitoba Hal and Cousin Earth.

Tickets are $20 for the concert only, $60 for workshops only, or $75 for both. At the Ukrainian American Cultural Center of New Jersey, at 60C North Jefferson Road, Whippany. Call 973-370-4UKE (4853) for more.

The festival concludes on Sunday, Aug. 28, with a free jam on the historic Morristown Green, weather permitting, at 10:30 am. Play, sing, or just enjoy.
