On Thursday the Hyatt Morristown officially became the Hyatt Regency Morristown, joining 161 other hotels worldwide under the Regency brand.

General Manager Jon Davenhall said pricing “would not necessarily” increase because of the re-branding.

Guests can expect the “already high level of customer service” to get even better, he said, emphasizing the hotel’s availability for events of all kinds.

(Disclosure: MorristownGreen.com has hosted two film festivals there over the years.)

Under cloudy skies, Davenhall cut the ribbon on Thursday and new signage was unveiled, to applause from representatives of the Morris County Tourism Bureau, the Morristown Partnership, and the Morris County Chamber of Commerce.

This has been a homecoming year for Davenhall, a Branchburg native who arrived in December 2015 from the Grand Hyatt in Washington, DC.

He was the first food and beverage manager for the Hyatt Morristown when it took over the Headquarters Plaza Hotel in 2005.

Now he runs the 256-room facility, which he said has 90 percent occupancy.

“It’s good to be back,” Davenhall said.
