Pay your respects to the late, great Prince. Find inspiration at George Gramby Day. Give the kids green thumbs, while immersing yourself in a world of comic books.  Hula over to a Hawaiian Luau.

THURSDAY, JULY 7, 2016:

Enjoy a meal and cabaret jazz by Julie Mac, to benefit Morristown-based New Jersey AIDS Services, from 6 pm to 9 pm at the Corner Bistro,  477 Route 10 East in Randolph. There is no cover charge or minimum, and a portion of proceeds will go to the nonprofit.

Is it possible that Star Trek is a half-century old?  (How long is that in Tribble years?) The Morristown & Township Library kicks off a celebration with screenings of episodes from the original TV series, as well as an animated series from the early ’70s, at 7 pm. Free. The Purple Xperience, a five-piece band from Minneapolis led by former Prince and the Revolution member Doctor Fink, celebrates the life and music of the late Prince, at 8 pm at Morristown’s  Mayo Performing Arts Center.  Tickets: $29-$59. At 100 South St. Call 973-539-8008 for more.

FRIDAY, JULY 8:

At 7:45 pm  7:30 pm, The Minstrel Open Stage offers an opportunity for acoustic musicians to perform a 15-minute set, and for the audience to enjoy a diverse collection of acoustic musicians. SATURDAY, JULY 9:

The Morris Plains Farmers Market is back, on Saturdays from June 11 to Oct. 8, 2016, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Speedwell Avenue Merchant Block across from the train station.

Dig It! Plant It! Eat It! is a free gardening program for kids, from 10 am to 11:30 am, in the garden at Morristown’s Macculloch Hall Historical Museum, at 45 Macculloch Ave. The program runs for the next four Saturdays; read all about it right here.

Former MorristownCouncilwoman Raline Smith-Reid will be honored at George Gramby Day/

The 24th annual  George Gramby Drug and Alcohol Prevention Day runs from noon to 7 pm at George Gramby Memorial Park (formerly Abbett Avenue Playground) in Morristown. Acvtivities include men’s softball and youth basketball games, face painting, food, vendors, a DJ, and inspirational speakers. At 4 pm, Humanitarian Awards will be given to former Morristown Councilwoman Raline Smith-Reid, Remy Pharr, and Morris County Prevention is Key. The day is named for the late founder of a Morristown substance abuse referral center named “Beginnings.”

The Garden State Comic Fest comes to Mennen Arena in Morris Township this weekend. Tickets: $25-$45. At 161 E. Hanover Ave. Call 973.326.7600 for show times.

The Morris Township Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a BYOB Hawaiian Luau at Ginty Pool, from 8 pm to 11 pm. It’s a non-swimming event with a DJ and lots of food, and it’s open to non-members. Tickets: $30. Call 973-326-7371 for more.


SUNDAY, JULY 10:

The Morristown Farmers Market is back for its 26th season, every Sunday through Nov. 20 from 8:30 am to 2 pm, in parking lot 10 between Morris and Spring streets.

Worship on the Green at a 10 am joint service with the Presbyterian Church in Morristown, the Morristown United Methodist Church and the Steve Hess Jazz Band.
