THURSDAY, JUNE 30, 2016

Start your holiday weekend early with Meet Me in MorristownThe festival starts at 11 am with sidewalk sales along South Street. From 5 pm to 9 pm, enjoy arts, crafts and music. More details are here.  Presented by Morris Arts and the Morristown Partnership.

shakespeareThe Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey  presents The Complete Works Of William Shakespeare (abridged)(revised) at 8 pm on the Outdoor Stage of The College of Saint Elizabeth, 2 Convent Road, Morris Township. Tickets: $25-$35. Call 973-408-5600.  Shows run through July 31, 2016.

 


FRIDAY, JULY 1:

The Morris Museum presents Toothpick World, an exhibit featuring Stan Munro’s toothpick recreations of famous architectural structures. The display runs through Aug. 31, 2016. See the museum website for admission prices and hours.

Looking for musical adventure? Treat yourself to guitar wizard Shun Ng at The Minstrel in Morris Township. Showtime is 7:45 pm, with opener Eclectic Consort. Tickets: $9, children 12 and under, free. At the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship, 21 Normandy Heights Road. Read more here.

SATURDAY, JULY 2:

The Morris Plains Farmers Market is back, on Saturdays from June 11 to Oct. 8, 2016, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Speedwell Avenue Merchant Block across from the train station.

Admission to the Morristown National Historical Park is free all weekend and July 4th.

Take a free tour of the 1718 Whippany Burying Yard at 10 am, with the Hanover Landmarks Commission. Please pre-register by calling 973-631-5151 and leave your name, phone number, and the number in your party. Park at 301 Route 10 East, Whippany.

SUNDAY, JULY 3:

The Morristown Farmers Market is back for its 26th season, every Sunday through Nov. 20 from 8:30 am to 2 pm, in parking lot 10 between Morris and Spring streets.

REVOLUTIONARY TIMES LOGOThe Revolutionary Times Weekend includes free admission from 9:30 am to 5 pm at the Morristown National Historical Park, which hosts a Revolutionary War encampment on the Ford Mansion lawn.  At 1 pm, the United States Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps will give a free, two-hour lawn concert at the mansion. See the Park Service’s centennial exhibit, too. At 30 Washington Place, Morristown.

The Morris Plains Community Band gives a free concert at Roberts Garden from 6 pm to 8 pm.The park is adjacent to the Morris Plains Public Library at the intersection of Glenbrook Road and Mountain Way. Read more here.

Fireworks are back! Bring a picnic, chairs and beach blankets to Central Park of Morris County, 91 Central Ave., Morris Plains, off West Hanover Avenue near Greystone Hospital, from 7:30 pm to 9:15 pm.  Picnic at the park after 6 pm. Free.  Sponsored by the Town of Morristown, as part of the Morris Tourism Bureau’s Revolutionary Times Weekend   Carpooling is recommended.

MONDAY, JULY 4:

market st mission race logoThe Market Street Mission‘s   5K Race for Recovery starts at 9 am, at Central Park of Morris County, at 91 Central Ave. in Morris Plains. The 5K fee is $30; a Kids Fun Run is free.

March with Revolutionary War re-enactors from the Ford Mansion to the Morristown Green at 11 am. At noon, join them on the Green for the annual reading of the Declaration of Independence, musket salute and more. (Rain location: Presbyterian Church of Morristown, 57 East Park Place.)  Afterward, take a free tour of the church and its Colonial-era graveyard.  It concludes the annual Revolutionary Times Weekend.
