Authorities were unable to revive a man who died on the Morristown Green on Sunday morning.

“There is an ongoing investigation and that there is no danger to the public,” said Lt. Charles Brady of the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.

The deceased was a homeless man named Kyree, who may have been in his mid-30s, said an acquaintance, Robert Bright.

Bright said he saw Kyree on a park bench across the street from the Morristown United Methodist Church around 7:30 a.m. He said police moved him onto the ground and attempted to resuscitate him. The body was removed around 10 a.m., Bright said.

It did not appear that Kyree had spent the night on the bench, Bright said. “I came out at 6 a.m., and there was nobody there,” he said.

The Market Street Mission confirmed that Kyree was an alumni, but had no further details. Bright said Kyree had not stayed in the program, and was homeless.  He hailed from Paterson, but had been in Morristown since at least 2010, Bright said.

“He was a good guy,” Bright said. “He just had some problems in his life.”
