Soler’s alleged offenses occurred between 2009 and 2014.

According to the newspaper, he has been charged with aggravated sexual assault and sexual assault (three counts each) and endangering a child’s welfare.

The landscape worker is being held in the Morris County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail, the report states.

Orlando Soto, 49, and Jose Bueso, a 20-year-old Honduran immigrant who is believed to be here illegally, also are being held in the county lockup. Both face charges of sexually abusing girls.

  1. The article does not report on race or ethnicity. It reports on the nationality of the “alleged” perpetrator.

  2. The article in no way references the race or ethnicity of the perpetrator. He could be white/black/hispanic/asian, we wouldn’t know with the information that is presented. All that is referenced is that he is a native to Honduras. What is important is that the individual charged with the crime is living and working in the United States without a visa and a business owner has been employing him despite him being here illegally. And let us not forget, most importantly, a CHILD was sexually abused. Race and ethnicity has nothing to do with this. He broke the law by coming and staying here illegally and then destroyed the lives of others when he sexually abused the minor.

  3. It is a fact of the case, pure and simple, reported in an open courtroom. If the suspect was a Frenchman here on vacation, I would report that, too.

  4. Like it or not, the fact that these two men are in the country illegally is a part of the story. Had they been legal immigrants, their ethnicity would be irrelevant. But since they’ve already broken the law by being in this country illegally, these new offenses are strike two, hence relevant.

  5. Do you usually report on the race and ethnicity of offenders? I find this extremely racist and offensive. Anyone that is charged with this offense is a criminal and if you are going to report their cultural back ground I hope you are prepared to start reporting those statistics for all criminals.
