THURSDAY, APRIL 14, 2016

Morristown’s Community Soup Kitchen holds its annual Share the Bounty cocktail party buffet and silent auction at 6 p.m. at The Madison Hotel.  The Soup Kitchen, which served 58,000 meals last year, will honor Tom Ross and Impact 100 Garden State for their support. Tickets: $60.  At One Convent Road, Morris Township.

Release your inner Crayola at Adult Coloring Book Night, at 7 pm in the Morristown & Township Library.  Publisher Jack Plaxe of Color 4 Fun will describe his work. Refreshments and coloring materials will be provided; you also may bring your own coloring tools. Admission: Free.  At One Miller Road, Morristown.

The North Jersey American Revolution Round Table presents Benedict Arnold: The Other War, From Quebec to Saratoga, with James L. Nelson, at 7:14 pm in the   Washington’s Headquarters Museum Great Hall, 30 Washington Place, Morristown. Admission: Free.

The Morris Museum’s Bickford Theatre in Morris Township presents the world premiere of My Mother, My Sister & Me at 7:30 pm.  It’s about “an indestructible working-class Jewish family in the Bronx … valiantly surviving the ever changing Sixties Cultural Revolution.” Tickets: $45 General Public; $40 Seniors, Museum & Theatre Guild Members; group discounts available. State Assemblyman John McKeon (D-27th Dist.) will discuss Environmental Issues Facing New Jersey at 7:30 p.m. at the Visiting Nurse Association, at 175 South St., Morristown. Presented by the Morris Township Democratic Committee. Admission: $10. Refreshments; free parking behind the building. Write here to register.

FRIDAY, APRIL 15:

Bid a fond farewell to Downton Abbey with Downton Abbey: A Staged Radio Play Parody,  featuring Raconteur Radio, at 7 pm in the Morristown & Township Library.  With special musical guests. Admission: Free. Refreshments will be served, and costumes are encouraged, though not required. At One Miller Road, Morristown.

The Shockenaw Mountain Boys come to The Minstrel in Morris Township at 8 pm, with opener Bob McNally, inventor of the Strumstick.  Tickets: $9, children 12 and under, free.  At 21 Normandy Heights Road.

The musical Mamma Mia, based on songs by Abba, comes to Morristown’s Mayo Performing Arts Center at 8 pm for the first of three weekend shows. Tickets: $49-$89. Also on Saturday at 2 pm and 8 pm.  At 100 South St. Call 973-539-8008.

SATURDAY, APRIL 16:

The fish in Burnham Park Pond have been waiting for you all winter. See if they’re biting at Morristown’s Annual Fishing Contest, from 8 am to 11 a.m. You supply the rod and reel, and the town Recreation Department will provide bait and refreshments. Prizes will be awarded in age groups 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, and 11-14 for First Catch, Longest Fish, and Heaviest Fish. Register online, or at town hall, or call 973-292-6717.

Radio station WMTR is hosting a free seminar on health and wealth, featuring Dr. Derrick DiSilva, from 8:30 am to noon at the Madison Hotel in Morris Township. Complimentary breakfast. Registration required.

Learn how Washington’s troops lived, at the annual weekend encampment at Jockey Hollow in Harding, from 10 am to 5 pm today and Sunday. More than 150 re-enactors will fire cannons and muskets and demonstrate camp skills from the Revolution. The event kicks off the National Park Service’s centennial celebration. Admission: Free.

Celebrate Irish culture through dance, crafts, folklore, music, and hands-on farm activities from 11 am to 4 pm at the Fosterfields Living Historic Farm in Morris Township. See how Irish farmhands worked this farm a century ago.  Admission to Luck O’ the Farm is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors (65+), $6 for children ages 4 – 16, and $4 for children ages 2 and 3, free for children under age 2. Grow It Green Morristown presents its annual Diamonds for Kale fundraising gala, at 7 pm in Morristown’s Kellogg Club.  Artisanal appetizers, craft beer, live entertainment, dancing and a silent auction benefit the nonprofit. Co-founder Myra Bowie-McCready and Woodland School kindergarten teacher Pilar Restrepo will be honored. Tickets: $133.  At 25 Colles Ave.

SUNDAY, APRIL 17:

Emmy award-winning cinematographer Tom Hurwitz will discuss the acclaimed documentary Tiger Tiger  at 9 am, in the adult forum of Morristown’s Episcopal Church of the Redeemer.  The film, which tells the story of a terminally ill conservationist striving to save an animal whose days may also be numbered, will be screened at 2 pm in the sanctuary. Both events are free.  At 36 South St.

cops and robbers 5KMorris Township PBA Local 133 is hosting its first annual Cops & Robbers 5K & Jaywalkers One-Miler at 9 am, at Ginty Field.  The “robbers” start first, and the cops start three minutes later and attempt to overtake them. Proceeds benefit the New Jersey State Policemen’s Benevolent Association and the Brody Hydock Foundation.  Entry fee: $20.

The Morris County Winter Farmers Market is winding down its first season at its new home, Morristown’s Alexander Hamilton School, from 10 am to 2 pm. Organized by the Foodshed Alliance and Sustainable Morristown, the market aims to present up to 25 vendors of locally grown produce. At 24 Mills St.
