Thankfully, there appear to be no life-threatening injuries, according to police.

But the resident will have to spend the holiday somewhere else, until town officials can determine whether the structure is safe.

UPDATE: Town officials on Wednesday afternoon determined it’s safe for the resident to inhabit the first floor of the two-story home.

Elsa Sanguri-Machamba, 39, of Morristown, was issued a careless driving summons after she lost control of a 2008 Ford F-350 pickup truck, veered through a fence and crashed into the side of a house at 6 Ford Ave.

Emergency Medical Technicians from Atlantic Health Services responded to the scene and assessed Sanguri-Machamba and another adult female passenger, who both declined further medical care, said Police Lt. Stuart Greer.

Two additional passengers, Mayra Vermeo, 18, of Morristown and a 10-month old baby girl, were taken to Morristown Medical Center as a precautionary measure.

Morristown firefighters also responded to the crash, which was reported at 11 am.

Town Construction Official Fritz Reuss expressed concerns about the home’s structural integrity, and initially advised the occupant that she would have to relocate until the situation could be assessed more thoroughly, police said.

UPDATE: Reuss said architect Jeff Rawding inspected the scene and found the first floor to be structurally sound. The truck impacted a wall affecting a staircase. Reuss said the occupant was upstairs at the time of the crash, and was just about to descend the stairs when the collision occurred.

The truck did not penetrate the wall, and a towing company was able to drive it onto its flatbed trailer. Utilities in the home were unaffected by the crash, Reuss said.

The residents could not be reached for comment.
