THURSDAY, NOV. 5, 2015:

A wine tasting at the Morris Museum in Morris Township will benefit St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center. From 6 pm to 9 p.m. Tickets: $50, must be purchased in advance,  online or at Main Street Wine Cellar in Madison. Attendees must be 21 years of age. The museum is at 6 Normandy Heights Road. FRIDAY, NOV. 6:

stand-down-logoThe non-profit Community Hope  is organizing  Stand Down in Morristowna two-day clearinghouse to match veterans with more than 50 free federal, state, county, public and private supportive services and resources.  More than 1,000 veterans have been rescued from homelessness in the past year, according to Community Hope. The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today and Saturday, at the Morristown National Guard Armory, 430 Western Ave., Morris Township.

St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Morristown hosts a free piano bar from 6 pm to 9 pm to 1 am. Sing along with friends old and new, or simply enjoy a beverage and some entertainment. In the Parish House, at the corner of Miller Road and Maple Avenue,

It’s time for The Minstrel’s monthly open stage!  Show what you can do, in a 15-minute set, or cheer for someone else who is showing what they can do. At 8 pm, at the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship, 26 Normandy Heights Road, Morris Township. Sign up here.

SATURDAY, NOV. 7:

Stand Down in Morristown, a clearinghouse for veterans programs continues from 8:30 am to 1 pm at the Morristown National Guard Armory. Please see Friday entry for details.

Morris Township and Harding Township together are offering their free annual rabies clinic for cats and dogs, from 10 am to noon at the New Vernon Firehouse, 22 Village Road, New Vernon (Harding Township). Animals must be on a leash or in a carrier. See  www.morristwp.com or call the board of health at 973-326-7390.

The Market Street Mission will distribute winter coats to men, women, and children from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Morristown Green. There will be no charge for the coats or jackets that have been donated by area residents, churches and corporations. To donate coats, please bring them to the Market Street Mission Thrift Store,at 25 George St. in Morristown, Monday through Friday between 9 am and 4 pm. For more, call Debbie at 973-993-2871.

A Community Food Drive will accept nonperishable items from 10 am to 2 pm at the Masonic Lodge, 39 Maple Ave., Morristown. Donations will benefit the Interfaith Food Pantry.

Ladies roller derby returns to Morristown when the Jerzey Derby Brigade skates against the Wilkes Barre/Scranton Roller Radicals at 7 pm. SUNDAY, NOV. 8:

The Morristown Farmers Market is in the home stretch of its 25th season, from 8:30 am to 2 pm every Sunday through Nov. 22, 2015, in municipal lot 10. That’s behind the Morristown Post Office, accessible via Morris Street or Dumont Place.  Organized by the Morristown Partnership, the market features 16 area farms and specialty vendors, with entertainment offered once per month.
